DL Attends Maryland's Junior Day

2011 prospect Kieran Borcich visited Maryland for Junior Day on March 27th.

On Saturday, March 27, Maryland hosted a handful of football recruits for one of their junior days. One of the attendees was junior defensive tackle prospect Kieran Borcich from Bronxville High School (Bronxville, NY), who came away impressed.

“I got to check out practice, meet with Coach Sollazzo the defensive line coach, and meet with Head Coach Ralph Friedgen,” he said. “It was a good day overall. It was a good experience.”

Along with the academics and football program, the location of Maryland's campus left a positive impression with Borcich. “It's a very active community there. It's in the middle of the Baltimore-DC-Annapolis area and there's a lot going on. It's a great campus. It's obviously a great academic school and it's a great football program.”

After an excellent junior year, racking up 94 tackles and 24 sacks, many programs have started to show increased interest in Borcich. “I've got offers from Michigan St., Buffalo, Central Florida, UConn, Syracuse, Baylor, Boston College, Maryland, Duke, and Rutgers. I've visited Maryland, Boston College, Duke, Rutgers, UConn, and Syracuse.”

“Maryland is recruiting me as a 3 technique defensive tackle in their 4-3 defense, working along that attacking and aggressive front they have there,” Borcich said. “They didn't have the best year last year but they had a really young team with a lot of talented guys who are going to come back and make some noise this year.”

Along with visiting the many schools over the summer that are wooing the 6'3” 270 pound defensive tackle, Borcich plans on going to a few camps. “I'm doing the Football University Camp and hopefully the Top Gun Camp this summer.”

Attending Maryland's junior day definitely made a great impression on Borcich. “Right now it's one of my top choices. It's up there.”
