Mangiro Enjoys Trip to College Park

2011 prospect Angelo Mangiro recently visited College Park and tells TSR how it went.

Over the weekend, Roxbury High School (Succasunna, NJ) product Angelo Mangiro took an official visit the University of Maryland. Mangiro, a 6'4”, 295 lineman, is mulling verbal offers from Rutgers, USC, Florida, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Maryland, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Virginia, Stanford, Temple, UConn, and USF. . However, after his visit to Maryland, Mangiro said the Terps improved their chances to land the four-star Class of 2011 recruit.

“I went in open-minded because I didn't know what to expect. Maryland didn't really have that great of a season last year because of a lack of experience and guys playing that were young,” Mangiro said. “I researched a little on them, and they have a lot of starters returning on both sides of the ball. They went up a notch in my book.”

Mangiro came away very impressed with the size of Maryland's campus. He also liked Maryland's location and the fact that the school is so close to Washington, DC and Baltimore.

“The campus tour really stuck out to me. I didn't know that Maryland was known for having this campus. It's not too big, it's not too small,” said Mangiro. “Maryland is 10 minutes away from Washington and 30 or 40 from Baltimore so it's just nice little getaway because it's in between the two cities.”

With so many schools vying for the potential services of Mangiro, the Terps did themselves a favor with this successful visit. Mangiro enjoyed his visit to College Parkand and said it was worthwhile.

“I was impressed by them. I don't have a top five. Every school has some things that you like that are there and not at other schools. In Maryland's case, I really liked the campus, location, and coaches,” Mangiro said. “It was nice. It was a nice day out. I enjoyed the campus and facts and everything. It was a good trip.”
