Monangai Building Relationship with Sollazzo

Seton Hall Prep running back Kevin Monangai has been receiving interest from several top flight programs. Brian Bradley spoke with him about his recruitment.

Although no college has offered a scholarship to Seton Hall Prep (West Orange, N.J.) RB Kevin Monangai, the soon-to-be senior has been developing strong relationships with coaches of Division 1-A programs, including Maryland Defensive Line Coach and Recruiting Coordinator Dave Sollazzo.

"He seems like a real cool guy," Monangai said. "I had fun getting to know him and getting recruited by him." Monangai added that Sollazzo has encouraged and inspired him along the way.

Monangai also highlighted a few weapons in his skill set that should help him succeed at the college level, citing his vision in the backfield and ability to break tackles. He acknowledged that he must work on his breakaway speed to reach his full potential, though.

Monangai's attitude should help him excel, then, as the standout said he liked to work hard and pointed to camaraderie with teammates as the best part of playing football.

Monangai apparently isn't all about work, though, saying his peers describe him as a "fun-loving guy." "It's about finding that balance between work and play," he said.
