Ramsey Jumps From Terps to Demon Deacons

2011 Maryland commitment Allen Ramsey de-committed from Maryland and is now a Demon Deacon.

Class of 2011 defensive back Allen Ramsey of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., who committed to Maryland in April, announced Thursday that he has decommitted from the Terps and has given a solid verbal to Wake Forest.

“I liked the education, the coaches, the players,” said Ramsey about Wake Forest. “I felt like I was home as soon as I stepped on campus. Everybody loved me.”

The Dillard HS (Fla.) cornerback said he did not get that same feeling while at Maryland.

“I know the coaches were cool with me,” said Ramsey of Maryland. However, he said he did not feel like he established as much of a connection with Terps players as he did with those at Wake Forest.

Ramsey went on to say that defensive schemes and systems of the two schools played no role in his decision. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound cornerback also said that his only official visit this fall will be to Wake Forest.

In losing Ramsey, the Terps lost a Scout.com 3-star player and their only defensive back of the 2011 class thus far, to an ACC rival, no less.
