Cole Very Interested In Maryland

2011 wide receiver/defensive back Alex Cole has Terps very high on his list.

Sherwood High School (Olney, Md.) WR/DB Alex Cole and his former head coach, Pat Cilento, have recently been in contact with Maryland Recruiting Coordinator Dave Sollazzo, who has expressed interest in watching Cole’s game tapes.

Standing at 5-foot-10 and weighing 170 pounds, Cole runs a 4.53-second 40-yard dash and bench presses 225 pounds. “I performed pretty well” at a June 23 Maryland camp, said Cole, who added that he’d “gladly come” to College Park again if Maryland scouts invite him to visit.

Cole described himself as “coachable,” “intelligent” and “versatile,” and compared himself to Percy Harvin and DeSean Jackson. “I think I have an understanding for the game,” said Cole.

While he has been garnering interest from Division 1-AA schools like Bryant, St. Francis and Monmouth, Cole said he has a “very high” level of interest in the Terps. “I’ll be pleased if they offer,” he said.

According to Cole, schools’ surrounding neighborhoods and qualities of education will factor into his college decision. “I want to study nursing. That’s important to me,” Cole said. And, “I’m looking for the college that wants me as much as I want to go there.”
