John Martin, a University of Memphis journalism student will handle the day-to-day beat coverage. "The foundation of any strong site is a top-notch beat writer," said Cox. "We looked at several candidates and John's references from many respected people in sports media were super. We rarely hire a student to handle the day-to-day coverage but we just kept coming back to John as the best option."
"My aim and focus with TigerAuthority and FoxSports/Scout is to become the number one source, bar none, for all Tigers news, from balanced team coverage to recruiting news. I have no doubt that we'll become the go-to site for Tiger fans everywhere," said Martin. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be able to work with a respected media entity like FOX. It has solidified itself as top-notch sports media and I couldn't be happier to come on board."
Football recruiting coverage will be a team effort from the 10+ recruiting experts in the South, but with the major thrust coming from industry veterans Steve Robertson and Andrew Bone. Robertson currently covers the SEC West region for FOX/Scout, and Bone has been focused on the Southeast for his nearly nine years in the business.
"It's always exciting to help launch a new site on the network," said Bone. "The team in place will bring a lot of excitement for Tiger fans looking for quality content. The July evaluation period will have people tuned in to learn more about recruits, and a football commitment last week from Columbia Central's Eric Belew helped jumpstart the class of 2012. It's a great time for fans to join TigerAuthority, which is a perfect name for the site which is the authority on the Memphis Tigers."
Basketball recruiting coverage will come from national analyst, Evan Daniels, and regional analysts, Brian Snow and Josh Gershon, with Gershon taking the lead. "Having covered Josh Pastner for several years while he was at Arizona, I'm extremely excited about the addition of a Memphis Scout.com site," said Gershon. "I know the interest that Memphis fans have in their basketball program and Scout.com will be able to provide national coverage of Memphis recruiting unlike what has been seen before online."
Rounding out the team will be field reporter, Emily Villere. Villere worked with Coach Larry Porter at LSU, and will be focused on reporting on recruiting and team news in front of the camera both on campus, and around the region.
TigerAuthority.com will be launching immediately, and Memphis fans can expect to see content immediately.
