Crawford Hearing from Plenty

Melrose (Memphis, Tenn.) and YOMCA guard Markel Crawford is drumming up interest from several high-major schools, including Memphis. Go inside to read exactly who's recruiting the 2013 guard.

Markel Crawford doesn't think he's even begun to realize his full potential as a basketball player.

"I haven't shown everyone what I can do yet," Crawford said. "Everybody doesn't believe in my game , so in Orlando (at Super Showcase and nationals) I'm going to show everybody what I can do."

Crawford, who played with the 17-U's in the Peach Jam last weekend, will be playing with both the 16's and 17's in Orlando.

Crawford said he wanted to play with both squads in order to show coaches his full skill-set. While his role with the 17's is defense-oriented, he said he'll be able to score more with the 16's.

"I've got to win it this year, too," Crawford said. "I basically have a vengeance. We're winning it all this year."

Crawford said he currently holds offers from Southeast Missouri State, Kent State, and Auburn. The 6-foot-6 guard said he's been hearing from the coaching staff at Memphis.

He's also heard from Syracuse, Marquette, Florida, VCU, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss.

"I'm just looking for my style of play, which is getting up and down and playing defense," Crawford said. "And also I'm just looking for a great coaching staff, really."
