Lowe makes his rounds

Germantown, Tenn. standout Shatavius Lowe has made a pair of camp stops in the past week. With Memphis in search of running backs for the 2012 class, where does the local prep star stand?

It's been a busy month of July for Germantown High running back Shatavius Lowe, one of the Memphis area's top prospects for the class of 2012.

Lowe began the month at the NFTC in the Lone Star State, and then made a stop in Fayetteville to camp with the Arkansas Razorbacks.

In the past week, he traveled south to Mississippi State before returning home to camp with Head Coach Larry Porter and the Tigers.

The trip to Starkville marked the second time that Lowe visited the Bulldogs campus this year, and Head Coach Dan Mullen currently has his SEC side out front in the race for Lowe's talents.

"Right now Mississippi State is my top school," Lowe said. "My top three are Cincinnati, Memphis and Mississippi State."

While the Tigers currently trail the Bulldogs, Lowe's camp experience with the Tigers made enough of an impression to keep the hometown team in the mix.

"It felt good, I mean, having my choices, and what not. Memphis is still a choice on my list," he said. "Memphis is still on my radar. I talked to a Memphis coach last weekend.

"I grew up in Memphis, and I pretty much watched the Tigers. I really didn't get into football until like, 2005 maybe, 2006. I just watched it and wanted to play and have been playing it ever since."

With no timetable set for a decision, the 5-11, 175-pounder will continue to weigh his options and see where his top three shake out over the next few months.

"(Cincinnati) is pretty far, and (Mississippi State) is only three hours away," Lowe said. "I have no clue when I will make a decision. I just want to focus on the season that's coming up."

Lowe has offers from Mississippi State, Memphis, Cincinnati and Arkansas State.
