Wortham picks Rams

After pushing his announcement back for a week, Deonte Wortham, an OLB/DE for Wilmer-Hutchins (Dallas, Texas), concluded his recruitment with a verbal commitment to the Colorado State Rams Tuesday.

Deonte Wortham, an OLB/DE from Wilmer-Hutchins (Dallas, Texas), committed Tuesday to Colorado State.

Wortham was also considering Memphis and Arizona State.

"I think it's the best place for me to go," Wortham told TigerAuthority.com. "I'm trying to get in another environment to get my life together and keep my head straight. I wanted to go to another community that felt like home."

In an interview with Scout earlier this month, Wortham spoke highly of Colorado State assistant coach Tim Duffie.

"Coach Duffie's a great coach," Wortham said. "We talk a lot. We talk about the positions and how I'd fit in, stuff like that."

While Wortham plays both defensive end and linebacker for Wilmer-Hutchins, Colorado State recruited him as a linebacker, he said.

Wortham said he'll bring good instincts to the Rams next year.

"I'm bringing speed, physicality," Wortham said. "I'm just trying to make it a good program."
