Former Briarcrest (Memphis, Tenn.) quarterback Michael Johnson is set to join the University of Memphis football team as a walk-on pending a physical, according to a source close to the situation.

Johnson is scheduled for a physical tomorrow at 1:30 p.m., and if everything checks out will begin practicing with the Tigers on Wednesday.

While at Briarcrest, Johnson received interest from SEC teams like Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee.

The 6-foot-6 quarterback, however, broke his collarbone during his senior season and saw his stock drop significantly.

Johnson will be the sixth quarterback on the roster for the Tigers.
