Wilson liking Pastner, Tigers

Dominican High junior guard Duane Wilson considers himself a student of history.

So for that very reason, his interest in the University of Memphis shouldn't be all that hard to understand.

"I like the way they get up and down," said Wilson, who will take an unofficial visit to Memphis on Jan. 28. "I like the guards and how (coach Josh) Pastner lets them go and play. (Assistant) coach (Damon) Stoudamire was a point guard, played years in NBA and has experience. I know their past history and different players."

Wilson, a 3-star guard who stands at 6-foot-1, picked up an offer from Memphis last month. He said Marquette, Missouri, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech have offered as well.

On top of the tradition of the Memphis program, Wilson said Pastner's work ethic stands out to him.

"I like him a lot," Wilson said. "Most teams don't have head coaches call you, but the majority of the time it's him calling, checking in on me." Wilson said the better parts of his game right now are his court vision and presence. He said he's fine tuning the other aspects of his game.

"I get my teammates open, I get steals, rebounds and score," Wilson said. "I just help my team in winning."
