Kathleen High School (Lakeland, Fla.) tight end Kerwin Harrison has committed to the University of Memphis.

Harrison, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound pass-catching tight end, took an official visit to Memphis last weekend. He marks the 19th commitment of the 2012 class for new Memphis coach Justin Fuente.

"The visit was good. I met the coaches, and they were really down-to-earth," said Harrison, rated a 3-star tight end. "The thing that got me was their relationships. They had strong relationships with the coaches and players, like they had been together forever.

"It was better than I expected. I expected to be kinda mediocre, but everything is on the up-rise."

Harrison said he appreciated Fuente's honesty throughout his trip to Memphis.

"I thought he was good, something new," he said. "I thought he was very cool, straightforward, down-to-earth. He didn't feed me lies and he kept it serious with me. He kept it real with me."

Harrison said the coaching staff told him that he'll play tight end and be used like an H-back.

"I'll do a little bit of everything, and I can line up in the slot," Harrison said.

Harrison said he's done with the process and that he's confident he'll sign with the Tigers on National Signing Day, which falls on Feb. 1.
