Willie Williams Update

One of the top defensive prospects from the state of Florida among the Class of 2004 will be Willie Williams from Miami (Fla.) Pace High School. Williams, 6-2.5 and 225 pounds, runs in the 4.5 range and recorded 173 tackles, 10 sacks and 4 interceptions last season as a junior.

"I mainly play outside linebacker and I love it," said Williams said. "I love the responsibilities and it is the best position for me. I play the run and pass very well and I am a big leader. On and off the field, I am the leader, by example and vocally. I feel like I have no weakness. I am a football player with a good attitude and good grades. I want to be a role model both on and off the field."

Williams is certainly confident and he has the game and the grades to back it up. According to Williams, he has scholarship offers from Miami, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Auburn, Michigan and others. For now, he is open.

"I want to see what is out there and my visits will play a big role in my decision. Players, coaches and the depth charts will also influence my decision. I will leave my options open and wait until Signing Day to make my decision."

Williams says he has several schools already in mind.

"Right now, I like Miami, FSU, Florida, Auburn, Michigan, and Ohio State."

Williams carries a 3.8 grade point average and bench presses 315 pounds, squats 450 and power cleans 295. He also runs track (10.8 100 meters). Williams will attend the Nike Camp at Miami.
