Spring Practice Report - March 25

The defense dominated the offense on Tuesday as the Miami Hurricanes football team as the team continued its second week of spring practice with a two-hour workout at Greentree Practice Field on the University of Miami campus. The Hurricanes will take Wednesday off before they continue spring practice Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at Greentree.

The Hurricanes practiced in full pads on Tuesday for the third consecutive day. Hurricanes head coach Larry Coker praised the defense, which was dominant for much of the full scrimmaging portion of practice, and was particularly impressed with the play of linebackers D.J. Williams and Jonathan Vilma along with defensive ends Thomas Carroll and John Square.

"Our defense was really dominant today," Coker said. "Our offense had a rough time executing and, when they did, we really got a lot of pressure from our ends. I was happy with what John Square and Thomas Carroll did today. They really caused problems. Our linebackers were just excellent, particularly Jon and D.J. Our quarterbacks didn't do a bad job today, but they had a lot on their hands with the way the defense was playing."

Tuesday's practice was the sixth of 15 sessions that will conclude on Thursday, April 10.

All spring practices are closed to the public with the exception of the Friday, March 28, workout at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale and the Spring Game slated for Saturday, April 5, at the Orange Bowl.
