Canes 35, Georgia Tech 10

The University of Miami turned in a strong performance against Georgia Tech today and won 35-10.

Five different Hurricanes scored touchdowns on Saturday in Miami's 25-point win. Lamar Miller started the scoring and was followed by Damien Berry, Leonard Hankerson, Mike James, and Graig Cooper.

The Canes amassed 507 yards of total offense, which was the best performance of the season from that unit.

Freshman quarterback Stephen Morris threw for 230 yards and one touchdown, winning his second straight game as the team's quarterback in place of Jacory Harris.

Miller ran for 85 yards on 11 carries, while Berry finished the game with 73 yards on 15 carries. James finished with 60 yards on 10 carries as the Miami running game was strong from start to finish.

Senior receiver Leonard Hankerson continued his excellent senior season, tying Michael Irvin for the single season touchdown reception record with 11. Junior Travis Benjamin finished the game with four catches for 64 yards.

Georgia Tech had over 400 yards of offense but was unable to capitalize on long drives deep into Miami territory. Linebackers Colin McCarthy and Sean Spence were very active on the defensive side of the ball for the Canes. McCarthy finished the game with 15 tackles; Spence with 11.

The win put the Hurricanes at 7-3 for the season and they'll return home to take on Virginia Tech in their ACC finale.
