Emmitt Tatum commits to UM

The UM summer camp was full of talented linemen on both sides of the football and one of the best was Jupiter's Emmitt Tatum.

At 6-foot-5 and 310 pounds, Tatum dominated drills all week and was impressive enough in front of Art Kehoe and Larry Coker that he was offered a scholarship at the end of camp.

The result?

"I have committed to Miami," Tatum told me this morning. I just love those guys at UM. I had a chance to meet some of the coaches and a lot of the players."

Tatum especially likes Art Kehoe.

"He's real cool, he's just a fun coach to play for. I actually met him last year at Down & Dirty. He's always intense and really gets on your case about playing hard every play. I like that."

Tatum had a busy May talking to college coaches.

"Rutgers, UCF, and BYU are my only other offers right now," he said. "Besides Miami, I also heard from Rutgers, UCF, BYU, Ohio State, Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa State, and a few others in May."

Tatum says he can now focus on more important issues.

"The commitment took a lot of pressure off my shoulders," he said. "(Miami's coaches) told me I just need to work on getting my grades and if I do that, everything is gravy come signing day."
