Miami Travels to Jacksonville

The 17th-ranked Miami baseball team travels to Jacksonville this weekend for a three-game series with the Dolphins at Alexander Brest Field.

Friday's series opener is set for 7 p.m. Game two on Saturday is also a 7 p.m. contest with Sunday's series finale beginning at 1 p.m.

The Hurricanes enter the series with a 32-11-1 record after a three-game sweep of Pace University last weekend. Jacksonville is 24-25 after a 11-3 loss to top-ranked Florida State on Tuesday night.

Miami leads the all-time series 70-17. Head Coach Jim Morris is 20-6 in his 10-year tenure with the Hurricanes. Miami has taken two of three games in each of the past three years.

UM will send left-hander J.D. Cockroft the the hill on Friday with a 7-2 record and a 2.30 ERA. Brandon Camardese (7-0, 4.30 ERA) will get the call on Saturday, while Alex Perez (1-2, 7.25 ERA) will make his fourth start of the season on Sunday.

Jacksonville will counter with right-hander Dennis Robinson (2-3, 3.51 ERA) on Friday night and left-hander Donald Brickle (4-5, 4.33 ERA) on Saturday. Right-hander Darren Truty (4-5, 4.31) will start the series finale on Sunday.

At the plate Miami is led by shortstop Ryan Braun with a .357 batting average, 11 home runs and 49 RBIs. Adam Ricks is close behind with a .350 batting average. The Hurricanes as a team are hitting .318, which ranks 20th nationally, while scoring the sixth most runs nationally at 9.15 runs per game.

Jacksonville is hitting .280 as a team, while scoring 5.02 runs per game. Chad Hauseman's .407 batting average leads JU and ranks 36th nationally. He also has a team-high 16 home runs and 35 RBIs. On the mound the Dolphins have a 4.50 team ERA with opponents hitting just .284 against them.
