Players talk post-Duke

Read on to see what several Miami players were saying following the team's 49-14 win over Duke on Saturday.

Sean Spence
On bouncing back from Virginia defensively…

It was great. You know watching film the next day, as a defense, we didn't like what we saw. We didn't play up to our standards. I know we didn't play the way we like to play. And we just wanted to come out here and get back on track.

On the young guys getting time…
It felt good seeing some of the young guys get in, some of the walk-ons. They work so hard on scout team to give our guys a good look. So it was great to see them get in.

JoJo Nicolas
On being focused on this game and not looking ahead to FSU…

Not at all, this week we came in focused and together as a team. And everyone basically bought in, and came out after the days we had off. We just bought in; everyone knew what we had to get done. And that is just signs of our team becoming more mature.

On how the defense performed well…
Everybody is doing their job. Everybody is being accountable. That's something we talked about as a team last night. Holding each other accountable and playing together as a defense.

Mike James
On how the offense executed so well…

The game plan was just to get the playmakers the ball and that's what Coach Fisch did. It wasn't anything much more than that. The game was ok, it was good. We still have got a lot more room to improve to get ready for Florida State next week.

On having one of his best games of the year and his preparation this week…
It was good. The whole goal of this week was to not press and just perform. And that's what I was trying to do.

Seantrel Henderson
On if he felt that he turned the corner today…

Yea I felt that I played way better than ever. Coach is right, training camp is over for me. I was just pretty much getting back into it with the team. Just going out there and playing the best I can.

On when he was told he was starting…
Coach Kehoe told me when we were stretching. He told me, "Hey Seantrel, you're going to start."

Jacory Harris
On how good the team is when they are clicking…

We look pretty good. We look like a great overall team when we're doing the things that we need to do to win a game, which is playing all three phases of football: offense, defense and special teams. And that's what we did out here today, we had an overall great game by everybody on the team.

On what it means to the offense to have a 1,000-yard running back like Lamar Miller
That means a lot. He's a great individual; he's a great back. But he owes it all to his offensive line, and everybody around him. And he understands that and that's why he got his 1,000 yards. But at the same time we would trade it all in for wins, but it's the past and it happened. So right now we just have to celebrate and live in the moment.

Stephen Morris
On your initial thoughts of the option-offense for…

It was kind of new, but I loved it. Going into practice, running the option, it was just fun. It shows on the field it's an explosive package for us and it'll help us down the road.

On being back on the field again…
I love being out there with the guys, no matter what my role is or what my job is; to hand the ball off or throw it deep. I love being out there with the guys and every time I get a chance I run out there. So it was fun.
