Canes still recruiting OU commitment

Laith Harlow is a standout tight end prospect from Godby High in Tallahassee and Scout caught up with him to discuss the latest.

Laith Harlow is one of two tight ends committed to Division 1 programs at Godby. The other is Brandon Hollifield, his backup in 2011, who is committed to Miami. Harlow talked about his senior season.

"I had a really good first five games bBut then unfortunately I hurt my back in the sixth game and missed the remainder of the season," Harlow said. "I'm doing a lot better, I'm recovering now, I have six months to get ready for Oklahoma so I'll be fine."

Harlow, 6-foot-4 and 245 pounds, made a summer commitment to the Sooners and talked about the season they're having.

"Oklahoma had a good year, had a few fallouts but every team has it. Hopefully I can get in there next year and help them win some more game."

In watching the Sooners closely this season, Harlow learned some new things about the OU team.

"I learned they're very quick, they do things fast and in a hurry. My high school team had the same mindset though so I'm anxious to get there and play."

Despite the commitment to the Sooners, a few schools are still recruiting him.

"Miami still tries hard to get me, also Tennessee, and Arkansas still call and send letters. Miami offered me back in the spring and showed some interest. They offered our other tight end, too. I was interested in them but now I'm committed to the Sooners."

The interest from those schools doesn't seem to be doing much to sway Harlow from his decision.

"I've been committed to OU all year so schools stopped showing a lot of interest," he said. "I don't plan on taking any other official visits."

Harlow, who claims a 3.3 GPA and a 1390 SAT, already saw Norman.

"I took my official to Oklahoma already. I loved it, I saw the Texas A&M game, I met a lot of players. Overall it was a great weekend."
