Miami has already had an up and down season even with the year being so young. The Canes were swept last weekend at home against the University of Florida and then on Wednesday had to come from behind in the 9th inning against Miami (OH), in a game that the "U" needed two errors in the last inning to win.
BC is hitting .283 as a team with a 4.85 ERA. Miami comes in hitting .301 with a team ERA of 4.17. It will be interesting to see how the Miami pitching staff responds after a rough showing against the Gators last weekend. The one bright spot was Sunday starter Bryan Radziewski who gave the Canes a great opportunity to win before Miami gave up the lead in the top of the 9th.
The bullpen will also need to better for the Canes. Miami needs to find consistency in the later innings. Relievers Javi Salas, A.J. Salcines, Eric Nedeljkovic, Christian Diaz, Alex Fernandez, Adam Sargent, and E.J. Encinosa have the depth but will need to prove they can hold a lead as the season progresses. Building consistency in the bullpen with be a major deciding factor at just how far the Canes can go this season.
Last year, because of weather, the Canes and Eagles were only able to play two games, with Miami winning both. The first game, Miami beat BC 19-4, and the second game the Canes got the win 7-6.
