Orange beats Green 7-6

The Hurricanes held their annual spring game today and the Orange team defeated the Green team by the score of 7-6.

The Hurricanes ran 24 offensive possessions in the spring game on Saturday and scored one touchdown and kicked two field goals.

To say the defense out-performed the offense today is an understatement.

The lone touchdown came in a Mike James four-yard run. The Hurricanes had a few other chances to score but Clive Walford dropped what could have gone for a long touchdown early on and then Ryan Williams missed a wide open Rashawn Scott in the endzone later in the game.

The defense forced several turnovers, including four interceptions -- one each by Ray Ray Armstrong, Thomas Finnie, Brandon McGee, and Vaughn Telemaque.

The running game didn't have a single carry that went for more than 12 yards. The passing game had two plays that went for 30+ -- a long completion to Scott on a blown coverage and a 44-yard catch and run by Phillip Dorsett.

Jake Wieclaw connected on two field goals and missed another one. Matt Goudis made one and missed one.

The Hurricanes played the game without projected starter Stephen Morris at quarterback and have no concluded spring football for 2012.
