Orlando NFTC Top 10

Over 250 prospects were on the fields at the Wide World of Sports on Sunday competing in the NIKE Football Training Camp. Scout names their Top 10 performers here.

It was a very deep pool of talent in Florida on Sunday and a number of prospects stood out, but Scout names the Top 10 here:

  • Johnell Barnes - CB - Fort Myers, Fla.-Dunbar
Quick Hitter: Barnes displayed very quick feet during the drills and he took that speed to the one-on-one session. He was tough to touch off the line and he caught everything within reach. He was named MVP for the wide receiver position.

  • Greg Bryant - RB - Delray Beach, Fla.-American Heritage
Quick Hitter: This Oklahoma commitment came dressed in OU gear and he performed like the top running back prospect he is. He had the best hands out of the backfield, he is very strong, and he was named MVP at his position.

  • Ira Denson - OG - Madison, Fla.-Madison County
Quick Hitter: There was not a more impressive performance than Denson's on Sunday. He was very strong at the point of attack, he dominated the one-on-one portion of the camp, and his recruitment could take off. He has offers from FIU and Western Kentucky at this time.

  • Ryan Green - RB - Saint Petersburg, Fla.-Catholic
Quick Hitter: Green has that quick burst that puts defenders on their hills. He set linebackers up when he had the ball in his hands, he held his own in blocking drills, and he caught the ball well coming out of the backfield. He is a very fluid athlete who showed a lot of his strengths today.

  • Vernon Hargreaves - CB - Tampa, Fla.-Wharton
Quick Hitter: Hargreaves is the top corner in America and he played like it again on Sunday. He plays like the game is in slow-motion for him and he went right through the drills and covered like expected.

  • Travis Johnson - WR - Tampa, Fla.-Jesuit
Quick Hitter: Every time we looked up, Johnson was catching another ball, and making another play. He finds a way to get open and when the ball is thrown in his direction, he knows how to reel it in. He could be a big wide receiver or a tight end in college.

  • Leon McQuay - S - Seffner, Fla.-Armwood
Quick Hitter: This four-star safety had a very good day all around. He showed great ball skills, good speed to the ball, and great instincts in the secondary. He is a long safety with great range and got his hands on a lot of passes on Sunday.

  • Laremy Tunsil - OT - Columbia, Fla.-Lake City
Quick Hitter: To see a guy with Tunsil's size (6-6/295) move the way he does, you can't help but be impressed. He showed good strength, body control, and agility when going through the drills, and then he showed improved power and good speed during the one-on-one session. He is the top prospect in Florida on Scout.

  • Demarcus Walker - DE - Jacksonville, Fla.-Sandalwood
Quick Hitter: This versatile defensive line worked some at end and tackle during the one-on-one session and he was equally effective at both. He has gained some weight (276 pounds) and he carries it very well. He has a good first step off the ball and he will be an end in a 3-4 scheme and a tackle in a 4-3 scheme. He is set to announce his decision on May 24.

  • Devin Washington - DE - Orlando, Fla.-Jones
Quick Hitter: It was all about speed for Washington today. He is very quick off the ball, he is quick to get around the offensive tackle, and he won many of his one-on-one battles Sunday because of that speed. He could be a linebacker on the next level, but today he worked at end, and he was very successful. He was named MVP by the coaches.

Others that were considered: Caleb Brantley, Quinton Powell, Kyle Shafenacker, Tony Stevens, and Asiantii Woulard.

Mike Bakas and Geoff Vogt contributed to this feature.
