Analysis: Matthew Thomas is considered by many to be the state's top overall prospect in the 2013 class. At 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, the Booker T Washington High standout in Miami has elite level athleticism and is an outstanding football player. It's a tremendous combination, especially for a player coming from one of the most productive prep programs in South Florida. He is rated as the nation's 2nd-best outside linebacker prospect on Scout and has a lot of what you look for in a premier prospect. He grew up a Miami fan, has been on campus a few times, and has developed a real good relationship with linebackers coach Micheal Barrow. Alabama, Florida State, and several others are going hard after him and are still in the mix and while he's not naming any leaders right now Miami is in good shape at this stage of the process. He'd be one of the top players in anyone's class and has to be considered a priority for the Canes.
