Analysis: Simeon Thomas emerged as one of the top defensive back prospects in South Florida this spring. At 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, he plays mostly cornerback at Miami Carol City High but projects as a safety in college. Miami offered two local safeties very early and seem to be doing well with both -- Jamal Carter and Artie Burns. Thomas says they told him they're only taking a couple safeties and that they'll let him know later this week about an offer. It seems like it may be too early to tell whether or not both Carter and Burns will pick the Canes. That seems to be what may be holding Thomas back from getting one. Either way, he's a talented player with a lot of interest and is definitely someone to keep a close eye on.
