DL Lists a UM Offer

When Milville, N.J. standout defensive lineman Dwayne Hendricks prepared for his junior season, he figured he'd be seeing a lot of double and triple teams and that's exactly what he saw last season.

"People were always putting extra bodies on me," Hendricks said. "It got to be frustrating at times but it made me a better player. It showed me that I just need to be a step quicker and a little stronger."

At 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds, Hendricks still got to the opposing ball carrier quite often. He made 55 tackles and 10 sacks last season.

The standout defensive lineman, who is a full academic qualifier already, compares to Nate Robinson. Like Robinson last year, Hendricks is arguably the top defensive line prospect in New Jersey.

"Nate was pretty good," he said. "With him going [to Miami] they're getting a pretty good player."

Hendricks now claims scholarship offers from over 20 schools and is starting to narrow down his list of favorites.

"It's still early but I have a general idea of the ones I'm looking at," he said. "They are schools like Miami, Michigan, Florida, Iowa, Boston College, Virginia, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. They're all good programs and they have all offered me."

The standout defender lists UM as one of his scholarship offers.

"I talked to the coaches in the spring time and they said they were impressed with the way I play," he said. "They recently offered me a scholarship. That's pretty exciting to me because I understand how good that program is. I mean, just look at their on-the-field success and the number of players they put into the NFL every year. If you're a defensive lineman thinking about the NFL, Miami's a good place to start."

At a NIKE Training Camp this past spring, Hendricks was timed at 4.80 over 40 yards, lifted 185 pounds 17 times, and jumped 30 inches on the vertical test.
