Analysis: Joe Mathis is being recruited like one of the top prospects in the state of California. At 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds, he's a premier defensive end prospect who says he'd be willing to play tackle at the next level as well. Either way, he's a top notch prospect who landed a spring offer from the Canes. He's never been to Miami but put the Canes on his current list of schools being considered. He plans to announce his final decision at one of the All-American Games in January. The Canes will likely go outside the state for a defensive end this year so Mathis is definitely someone to keep an eye on. Until he visits, however, it has to be considered somewhat of a longshot.
