Analysis: Deondre Barnett plays for one of the state's premier prep programs at Cocoa High. At 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Barnett just started playing football last season and lined up mostly as a wide receiver until late in the season. He's gained some weight since then and impressed the coaches at camp a few weeks ago. He's a lot like Dwayne Hoilett as a prospect and if this were last year, when Miami had over 30 scholarships to give, Barnett's chances of having an offer from the Canes would be a lot higher. Things are much tighter this year, and so Barnett is still waiting on the Canes. There's a good chance Miami will go outside the state for its defensive end recruit this year but Barnett is certainly an in-state player to keep an eye on, as he's someone the coaches already know very well.
