Scout Ranking: 4-star and No. 28 DT
Measurables: 6-foot-3 and 310 pounds
2011 Stats: Bain finished his junior season with 37 tackles, five sacks, three caused fumbles, and four blocked kicks.
What they're saying: Bain is a raw athlete that gets better by the game. He grew up a basketball player, but football is his future. He is a top athlete on the line of scrimmage and he chases the ball well. He is still learning about the game, learning about his position, and he could play tackle or end on the next level depending on the scheme. He shows consistent effort, he runs very well, and he has a very high ceiling. - Chad Simmons/Scout.com
Recruiting Status: Bain made a commitment to Florida State last October but opened things back up recently. Bain told Scout last week that Miami, Alabama, Michigan State, LSU, and USC are now his top five choices.
What he's saying about Miami: "It's close to home. I like how they operate, how the coaches are. They seem to really care about the players. I think Al Golden's doing a good job building them back up."
Miami angle: Despite his commitment to Florida State way back during his junior season, Bain never stopped getting recruited by the Miami coaches. He attended Junior Day events, spring practices, and took a couple other unofficial visits in recent months. He has developed a very good relationship with the coaches and Miami seems to be the school recruiting him the hardest. Florida State isn't even really in the picture here, something many believed even when he was committed to the Noles. He's in Miami's backyard at a need position and the Canes are making him a priority. Miami's chances look pretty good heading into the month of August.
