Scout Ranking: 4-star and No. 4 CB
Measurables: 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds
2011 Stats: Alexander finished his junior season with 42 tackles, three interceptions, and six pass deflections.
What they're saying: Alexander is a physically gifted corner that already plays the game at a collegiate level. He plays his edge tough against the run and is a sure tackler. Thrives in man coverage where he lets his natural cover instincts take over. Physical at the line of scrimmage. Very confident kid, takes on challenges. Alexander makes an impact on special teams as a punt returner. Twin brother, Mackenro, is also a BCS recruit. - Geoff Vogt/Scout.com
Recruiting Status: Alexander committed to Tennessee at one point last year but backed off that commitment when his recruiting coach left. He's now wide open and has visited Miami, Florida State, Florida, Clemson, Alabama, Notre Dame, and more in recent months.
What he's saying about Miami: "I've been there before and I like the coaches down there. They're doing a nice job putting it back together."
Miami angle: The Hurricanes have six true freshman cornerbacks on its roster right now and they just picked up a commitment from 4-star Artie Burns a couple weeks ago. There might not be room in this class for another player at this position but if so, Alexander is one of the best available. The Hurricanes offered him early in the process, he's already visited, and he's expressed interest. It doesn't seem like he's being recruited like a priority for the Canes so his interest in return has faded some. Still, he's a 4-star player who is someone Canes fans need to keep an eye on heading into the start of the season.
