Lil Wayne as Motivation

Deep breaths and Lil Wayne is how Duke Johnson keeps focused before a game. But he is not scared to admit that the excitement of a game can overwhelm a player. Read on to see what he's saying.

Q: Do you ever feel a little overwhelmed before you go into a game or scrimmage?
A: That happens to me a lot. I just try to keep relax, and take deep breaths, so I don't get overwhelmed so much.

Q: Do you do anything prior to the game to make yourself calm?
A: I listen to music. I like to listen to different type of music. Like really slow music, so I'm calm and relaxed.

Q: Who's your favorite artist?
A: Lil Wayne.

Q: Who are the players that you are excited to see for tomorrow's scrimmage that have shown potential and hard work in practice?
A: I like to see our whole back field and the o-line. I really want to see the team as a whole. We really don't get to see in practice the entire team's progress.

Q: Do you guys feel like you are almost ready for the game on the first?
A: Oh, yeah. We're focused and everybody knows our goals and what we need to do to reach them.

Q: What would you say you need to improve as a team?
A: Trying to get everybody on board. We know what we can do, we just need to get everyone on the same page.

Q: Do you think that the excitement to start the season is slowing down some of the player's performance?
A: I wouldn't say slowing them down, but maybe getting them off focus. It could be a discretion at the same time, but I got to learn how to manage it.
