UM Football Scoop: 8/15

A lot is happening in Coral Gables as the Canes continue preparing for the start of the 2012 season. Here are some news and notes from today.

* Raphael Kirby was hurt over the weekend and will be out for awhile. "It wont require surgery but he'll be out for awhile," Golden said. "I wouldn't rule him out for coming back by mid-season. He has a great makeup and he approaches everything so well. If they're saying 4-6 weeks, he'll be on the short side of that."

* Anthony Chickillo wore a yellow jersey today, meaning he was limited. He will be fine, though.

* The black jerseys were worn today by P Dalton Botts, DE Shayon Green, CB Brandon McGee, and CB Tracy Howard.

* Phillip Dorsett is the primary return guy and is having a strong camp. "Dorsett is playing faster this year and is more comfortable. "He's having a great camp."

* Thurston Armbrister is still one of the starters at linebacker and has drawn praise from his coaches. "Armbrister is way more physical than they thought, coming down from safety. He's 220 now, running a 4.6. They see him becoming 235. He's smart."

* Malcolm Lewis had a punt return touchdown in yesterday's Special Teams scrimmage. Golden also singled out Kacy Rodgers and Deon Bush as having strong performances yesterday.
