Highsmith is the next one up

A.J. Highsmith agrees that the team needs to pick up the pace to go against Bethune Cookman, but he's isn't going to step down now that he has the starting position. Read on to see what Highsmith's attitude is towards this Saturday.

Q:What's the players' mindset after last week's loss?
A: It would be unrealistic for us to say that it never happened. But, we're just trying to improve and do anything that we need to get better on.

Q: What do you think you need to do when you go against Bethune Cookman?
A: Well, they're a good team. They have a lot of talent. Their coaches are always preparing them, and they're always going to get up to play us. We can't overlook them or take them lightly. We're taking them very serious, and we're playing them the same way we would be playing anyone else.

Q: What did Kansas State do right?
A: They just did what they were supposed to do. They just go in the positions they had to be in. At times, we weren't where we were supposed to be. That's why we missed things in the secondary. You can tell they really executed what they wanted to do in the game.

Q: What's your take on Vaughn being out and you stepping up?
A: Just, you know, who's going to be the next guy. Collectively we have to do a good job at pushing each other and competing, because we all have to pick up the slack.

Q: Are you excited that you're finally going to be playing a home game this season?
A: Yes, definitely. It going to be a good feeling to not have to travel and do all that extra stuff and just play in our own backyard.
