UM Football Scoop: 9/18

A lot is happening in Coral Gables as the Canes prepare for Georgia Tech this week. Here are some news and notes from today.

* Ga Tech is an impressive opponent. They're physical and rugged on both sides of the ball. They can run the ball very well, have an experienced QB, and explosive players outside. The linebackers are all 230+ and the nose goes 330+ and the ends are 270.

* Dallas Crawford is "doing a great job" as the scout team quarterback this week.

* The team's top receiver Allen Hurns will be back in action this week.

* "Denzel is out for the game." Because of that, Gionni Paul and Jimmy Gaines have been working in the middle in his replacement.

* When asked about getting Duke Johnson the ball more, Golden said "there are a lot of guys on offense I'd like to get the ball to more."

* Jon Feliciano is "finishing better than anyone on the offensive line" this season. Golden credits his weight being down and conditioning being improved as the factors for that.

* "There's a good chance we'll have him this week," Golden said of Vaughn Telemaque.

* Seantrel Henderson had a good game and a good week of practice. The competition is very close and they'll make a final decision on Thursday.

* A.J. Highsmith will serve as the team's backup long-snapper this week to new starter Paul Kelly.
