"It started with the Rutgers camp down here," Williams said. "Then I went to Florida, then UM, and then Florida State. They were all fun. I love to compete and that's the reason I went to all of them."
The talented linebacker talked more about his recent trip to the Seminoles camp.
"It was straight," he said. "I went up there and had a good time. The coaches were cool and it was competitive. The thing I like about Florida State is there's a lot of team chemistry there, a lot of team unity."
Another factor that some felt would help influence his decision is the fact that his sister lives in Tallahassee.
"She's going to be a junior in the fall at FSU," he said. "I talk to her. She likes it but it's not like I'll pick a college based on where she's at. But FSU's real impressive. They're right near the top of my list with UM right now."
Williams is now anxiously awaiting word on his hardship case to regain eligibility this season.
"I'm so hungry and ready for football and sitting here waiting to hear back from the state isn't exactly easy," he said. "I'm supposed to hear back from them in the early part of August."
On a side note, Williams told me he ran into incoming freshman linebacker Ali Highsmith over the weekend.
"I saw Ali on Saturday night," he said. "We just talked for a little bit. I said what's up. He's getting bigger. He says he's ready."
