Easley head coach Chad Smith delivered the news after he was notified that an offer was sent out to his feature running back.
"It was exciting. Coach called me into his office and he broke the news to me. It was just exciting. I don't know, just overwhelmed," Fuller told CUTigers on Tuesday.
He felt it would eventually come through, but wasn't sure when an offer would actually happen.
"I kind of knew they were really interested. I wouldn't say it was that big, but it did come as a shock. I knew I would have the chance at getting one," Fuller said.
Once news got around school, Fuller was applauded for the rest of the day.
"Teachers and students, close friends were congratulating me, telling me to keep working hard -- it's not over yet, just keep working hard," he said.
The Clemson offer is special to the 5-foot-10, 180-pound prospect.
"I grew up as a fan, but I want to see where will be the best place for me to go and where I'll fit in, where I'll get a big role in," Fuller said.
The Tigers like him as an athlete, either a running back or cornerback.
Fuller has been to several Clemson games this season, including Saturday's win over Virginia Tech. He's also visited North Carolina and will head to South Carolina on Saturday for the Tennessee game.
So far this season, Fuller has rushed 148 times for 1,601 yards with 14 touchdowns in helping lead the Green Wave to a 7-2 record. He's also caught three touchdown passes.
As a sophomore, Fuller had 115 carries for 805 yards.
