RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Tom O'Brien met with the media following the Pack's loss to Virginia on Saturday afternoon at Carter-Finely Stadium.

"They certainly used their off week to a good advantage. They came out here and went after us and we didn't respond. That's on me. I gotta get it corrected and make sure this football team gets back to doing what it has to do."

"Don't tell me they lost six straight - that has nothing to do with this. This is a week to week profession. They had a week off, they prepared for this, and they beat us."

"The penalties in the first half, and the dropped ball - we couldn't sustain anything."

"We were good and then we were bad. Same thing - lack of consistency up front. There were times where I think he had enough time to throw the ball. I dunno if nobody was open or not."

"We came out started to run the ball in the second half. We have to run the ball to be effective."

"You can't just go back and throw the ball every time. It just doesn't work."

"I didn't get any indication in practice this week that last week was a factor in getting ready to play this game. Could it have been? I dunno."

"It looked like what we practiced - they just executed their offense."

"Way too many [drops]. Probably the fourth quarter we are 3rd down and five - we have a drop. Then on fourth down we go the wrong way up front and get sacked. That's an encapsulation of what we did on offense today."

"You put something on the board right there [after the half], then its a whole different football game. Which we weren't able to do."

"We got our best guys - who we think are the best guys - are playing."

"We do the right thing, as we've shown, we can be a good football team and we can win. But we have to be kicking on all cylinders and not shooting ourselves in the foot."
