Porter glad to be back

Curtis Porter has been out for most of the season due to appendicitis, which required surgical removal of his appendix. Read on to see what he has to say about getting back to speed with the rest of the team.

Q: Was it tough not being able to play?
A: It was very tough, but, you know, at the same time, this is something that you just have to keep training and stay focused. You just got to get back into the motion and get back to training as soon as possible.

Q: Does it feel good to be back?
A: Oh yea, it makes me happy everyday, because, you know, to see everyone do their job and to see everything fall into place is just and be where it's supposed to be makes me happy.

Q: Are you in the shape you think you need to be in right now?
A: I'm not in the shape I need to be in, but everyday in practice we have to condition and run, and I even do a little extra after practice to keep myself up and to keep competing and stay in the same competition as everyone else.

Q: What's the biggest thing you needed to get back to being game ready?
A: I would say the stamina. Because, after a long period of time being out, my stamina seemed to be going down, but I'm just trying to build that stamina back up.

Q: How do you think the defensive line is coming together?
A: The unit is doing phenomenal. It's all about staying on assignment and doing your job. I think everyone just started playing and got to know what it takes to beat some of these teams.

Q: How were you doing in the fall, before you had appendicitis? Was this going to be your best year?
A: It was the best year of my life. I'm just going to help the team and get back to where I was at.
