"I got up to Lincoln on Saturday morning around 10:30," Hooks said. "I was supposed to get in Friday night, but my flight was canceled.
"I went on a tour right away and saw the facilties, saw the academic center, the weightroom and all of the offices. From there we went down to the field."
The pre-game is important for the visitors who are allowed to enter the field before the team through the tunnel walk. Hooks said that really made him feel like he's been part of the program for years and not just a recruit.
"The tunnel walk was very nice. I really liked it. All of the fans were lining the walkway and they all knew who I was. It was like I had been there for years."
Hooks saw a team that didn't give up on the game even though they went into half down 20-6. The team fought hard behind a coaching staff that didn't give up. That impressed Hooks.
"I liked the way coaches ran things. They just kept fighting. I like coaches like that. I think that I am a perfect fit. I could be that piece of the puzzle that they need in a defensive tackle."
Since Hooks was unable to meet a lot of people because his flight was canceled he got to meet everyone on Sunday morning. "This morning I met with all of the staff. I got a chance to talk with the head coach, the defensive coordinator, my recruiting coach and I also met with the nutrionist. All of the people around the program are great."
Hooks left Nebraska impressed. It was only his first visit, but the bar has been set very high. Hooks says that the thing that impressed him the most was the fans during the game and even after the game.
"I had a great time. I would give the trip like a "9". The best thing for me was the whole game day atmosphere. Their fans are the best. It was my first visit and the whole thing was just a great experience."
Hooks has two more visits set up. He says that after he makes the next two trips that he will ready to make his decision. This is a great thing for Nebraska who are now at the top of Hooks' list.
