South: Five-star Update

Seven five-star prospects out of the south remain uncommitted and you can find out where they stand right here.

Robert Nkemdiche | 6-4/270 | DE | Loganville (Ga.) Grayson | No. 1 Overall
Nkemdiche recently opened his recruitment back up and he visited Ole Miss for the fifth time this season over the weekend. The Rebels are considered the favorite right now with Alabama and LSU right behind them, and you cannot rule out Clemson completely yet. He could commit any time between now and Signing Day.

Laremy Tunsil | 6-6/295 | OT | Lake City (Fla.) Columbia | No. 4 Overall
Tunsil visited Alabama Saturday and saw the Tide lose their first game of the season. That will not change his opinion of Alabama which is very high. Florida, Florida State, and LSU are still in the mix to some extent, but this looks like it is shaping up to be a battle until Signing Day between Alabama and Georgia. He has a great connection with each staff. If anyone had a small advantage, it may be Georgia at this time, but this one is really too close to call.

Montravius Adams | 6-3/295 | DT | Vienna (Ga.) Dooly County | No. 7 Overall
Adams is really exploring his different options at this time. He visited Clemson over the weekend and he was at Georgia a week ago. Auburn was the leader at one time, but their play this season and the uncertainty of the coaching staff next year has really evened the playing field. Alabama and Florida are in the mix too and LSU has been a school Adams has shown interest in also. This one is going to go into January at least and could possibly go to Signing Day. It is hard to know who has the edge at this time, but when in doubt, you have to really hard at the in-state school.

Antonio Conner | 6-1/205 | S | Batesville (Miss.) South Panola | No. 8 Overall
Conner has really kept to himself for the most part, but the word on the street is that Ole Miss is in very good position to land the top prospect in Mississippi. The Rebels lead and the school behind them looks to be Alabama. The Tide are expected to make a run at him and get him in for an official visit, but it will take a lot for Ole Miss not to land this elite safety.

Matthew Thomas | 6-4/210| OLB | Miami (Fla.) Washington | No. 13 Overall
Miami was the leader back in the spring, but Florida State took the lead over the summer, and they look to be the school the Hurricanes are chasing at this time. Alabama and Georgia are schools Thomas continues to list, but him leaving the state does not appear likely right now. All signs point to it coming down to the Seminoles and the Hurricanes. Both schools will likely receive and official visit.

Vonn Bell | 6-0/190 | S | Rossville (Ga.) Ridgeland | No. 28 Overall
Bell trimmed his list down to three earlier this fall, so Alabama, Ohio State, and Tennessee are the schools in the hunt for Bell at this time. Tennessee is the state he grew up in and the school he has followed since being a child, but are they the leader? Some feel they are, but Alabama and Ohio State are right there in the thick of this race. Bell could take official visits to each school or he could just decide to commit before that happens. He is not saying he is close to a decision, but he is playing things very close to the vest.

Alex Collins | 5-11/207 | RB | Plantation (Fla.) South Plantation | No. 33 Overall
Collins recently had two big things happen; he was named a five-star on Scout and he decommitted from Miami. The Hurricanes may not be completely out of the race at this time, but Florida State and Wisconsin have moved ahead of them. The Seminoles are closer to home and they recently offered and picked up a commitment from his friend/teammate John Franklin, but some feel Wisconsin could actually be the leader. Collins is not saying much, but it appears to be an FSU-Wisconsin battle right now.
