November was quite a busy month for Hunter Knighton. The six-foot-six 265-pound prospect wrapped up his senior season at The Hun School (Princeton, N.J.) and took official visits to Boise State and Purdue.
Each made a solid impression with Knighton.
"Boise was cool," he said. "I loved the city and the campus. Coach Peterson's philosophies are great and I felt like I fit in really well with those guys."
"Purdue offered me very early on so that was huge for me back then. Academically, I think it's a great fit and I'll be watching with what happens with the coaching situation there." Knighton also took an official to Boston College back in September.
His three officials thus far leave the door open for two more official visits, one of which he says he'll save "just in case" something last minute comes up, the other will come next weekend, when Knighton plans on heading to Miami (Fl) to get a feel for the Canes' program.
He admits this visit will be a little more interesting than most because of some recent history with the program.
"The whole process with Miami is kind of different," he said. "They came to my school and saw me in May but was the only school that didn't offer me. Then they invited me to their camp so I took that as a challenge, went out there, and got the offer."
"Coach (Art) Kehoe is the guy recruiting me there and I had the chance to work with him at the camp. I feel like we understand each other and I love the way he coaches."
A two-way standout, Knighton is at a stalemate on which position he'll play at the next level. Miami and Boston College are seeking his services on the offensive side of the ball, while Purdue and Boise State prefer him on the defensive side.
"I'm not really leaning any way right now. I'm trying to figure out what position I'll play by talking with my high school coaches and see where they think I have the most potential but I love playing both. As long as I'm on the field, I don't care."
Although he's focused on his top five-Miami, Boston College, West Virginia, Purdue and Boise State- Knighton has also been hearing from a few other programs as well.
Despite a few new schools coming into the mix, Knighton added we should expect a decision sooner than later.
"I'm happy with the offers I have so I'm going to try and make a decision here in the next few weeks."
