Mississippi All-Star: Tony Bridges

Tony Bridges is one of the top cover corners in the state of Mississippi. While not as well known as some of his All-Star teammates, Bridges has big time talent and is prepared to prove it this week during the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star game. Bridges was a standout out on day one of practice.

"I feel like I am getting overlooked," said Bridges. "I want to get all the looks I can get this week."

Bridges is well respected throughout the state thanks in large part to his play in big games against big time opponents.

In round one of the 6A state playoffs, Bridges had two interceptions including one he returned 98 yards for a touchdown to knock off top seeded Gulfport.

"We came out there playing ball," said Bridges. "Coach told us people weren't expecting us to go far, but we just kept believing and kept playing.

"We ended up pulling it through."

The next week, Bridges and HHS almost pulled another upset. The Tigers were stopped just short of the goal line with what would have been the winning touchdown.

"We had it," said Bridges. "One ref said I was done, but then they said it was a fumble.

"It happened right there at the one yard line. It was tough to take."

This week Bridges is looking to prove that he deserves to be mentioned as one of Mississippi's best as he looks to lead his home staters to a win over the Alabama All-Stars.
