New DE Prospect Emerging

The Hurricanes are in desperate need of some pass rushers in the 2013 class and a new name has emerged on the board. Read on for more..

Chris Jones is one of the best overall prospects in the state of Mississippi. At 6-foot-6 and 255 pounds, Jones plays at Houston High.

Rated the 8th best defensive end prospect in the nation by Scout (4-stars), Jones made an early commitment to Mississippi State. However, he told Scout's Yancy Porter this week that the Canes are now recruiting him.

"Miami called," Jones told Porter. "They want me to come check out the campus."

Jones says he's also being recruited by schools like Ole Miss and Oklahoma. The only official he has lined up right now is to MSU on January 18.

Miami landed a commitment from Devante Bond last week, so this seems to indicate that they're not done recruiting at the defensive end spot.

Four-stars Tim Williams and Alquadin Muhammad are two other players to keep an eye on at that position.
