UM Recruiting Scoop: 12/28

Read on for all the latest recruiting news and information surrounding the University of Miami, with complete analysis from CanesTime's Mike Bakas

* Wisconsin hired a new head coach in Utah State's Gary Andersen. It'll be interesting to see how he and his new staff do with their recruiting efforts of 5-star RB Alex Collins. The former UM commit visited them earlier this year under the old staff but his recruiting coach left to Arkansas. I dont think the Badgers are seriously in the mix anymore. I think Arkansas is definitely in the mix now, and will likely get a visit. UM, FSU, and Florida are in it, too.

* I'm hearing that Ole Miss is on the verge of landing a 4-star RB commitment from a player named Kailo Moore from MS. That would give the Rebels three running back commitments in the 2013 class. One of them is Peyton Barber from Georgia. If the Canes can't get Collins, Barber is very much in the running. He is scheduled to visit here in January. He's never been so it's hard to tell Miami's chances yet but he says he's developed a good relationship with the UM coaches. He's a big back from Georgia.

* LB Yannick Ngakoue told Scout that his final four schools are Miami, FSU, South Carolina, and Maryland. He's a 4-star LB prospect from the state of Maryland. Miami offered him early on, and has been recruiting him ever since. He's a big LB the Canes need, and will visit here next month. We'll know a lot more about his interest in the Canes following that visit. The key will be whether he wants to leave home. Maryland's done a nice job keeping the top kids at home the last couple years. He's definitely someone to keep an eye on at the LB position for Miami.
