Recruiting Update: Contra Costa

Just a few years ago, Contra Costa was lucky to have a handful of players sign with four year schools. Now though, the Comets routinely have double-digit prospects signing and that is definitely the case this season as head coach Alonzo Carter filled in on all of the players who have committed and some other players to keep an eye on.

LB Eriquel Florence - "Eriquel had a great season for us and he had plenty of schools looking at him. He has committed to Arizona State and I think that will be a great fit for him."

Season Stats: 91 tackles, 6 sacks, 14.5 tackles-for-loss, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 5 passes defensed

DL Demetrius Cherry - "He'll play at ASU with Eriquel. It's a great fit for him. He had a great season. He's big and talented and I think he'll really surprise some people."

Season Stats: 29 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 10.5 tackles-for-loss

OL Damien Parris - "Damien is very talented. He could play inside or outside. He'll sign with Houston in February, but he could have gone to several schools who had offered him. He was underrated in my opinion."

OL Brandon King - "Brandon is going to sign with Western Kentucky. He's one of our two mid-year guys. All the rest have to sign in February."

OL Desmond Harrison - "Desmond is probably our most highly-recruited guy. He's so big and athletic, teams from all over wanted him and he's down to Texas, Oklahoma and Arizona State. He'll decide at some point here soon, probably the next couple of weeks, and then he'll sign with that school in February."

CB Tyran Finley - "He'll visit UTEP on January 11th, Troy on January 18th and Wyoming on January 25th. Middle Tennessee has also offered him and he could visit there too. He had a good year in our secondary, so schools really started to come after him when they got a good look at him."

Season Stats: 20 tackles, 6 interceptions, 23 passes defensed

WR Ronald Butler - "Ronald is a really good receiver and led our team from that position. He will visit Middle Tennessee on January 18th."

Season Stats: 55 receptions, 870 yards, 13 touchdowns

LB Aaron Norton-Buford - "Aaron will visit Middle Tennessee on January 18th along with Ronald. He's a long and athletic player. We used him in a lot of different ways and he just went out and did the best he could. He's a hard worker and a quick learner."

Season Stats: 42 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 7.5 tackles-for-loss, 2 forced fumbles

QB Lamar McKnight - "He'll sign with Bethune-Cookman or Georgia State in the next week or so. He's our second mid-year guy."

Season Stats: 87 of 167 (52.1%), 1,103 yards, 11 touchdowns, 3 interceptions; 281 yards, 2 touchdowns
