Hoops: Miami 77, Detroit 62

The University of Miami Men's Basketball team advanced to 3-2 on the season with a 77-62 win over Detroit today.

The Hurricanes won the game in front of 2,946 fans by the score of 77-62.

Durand Scott returned to the starting lineup for the Hurricanes, and it didn't take him long to make a big impact for Miami. He was tied for the team lead with 15 points. Freshman Shane Larkin also added 15 for the Canes.

Kenny Kadji grabbed 11 boards for the Hurricanes, who had grabbed a 35-31 halftime lead. Miami's defense went to work to begin the second half, holding the Titans without a point for almost the first five minutes of the second half.

Nick Minnerath's 22 points for Detroit was a strong performance, but it wasn't enough to overcome a strong team performance by the Canes.

Starters in this game for the Canes were Larkin, Scott, Trey McKinney Jones, Kadji and Julian Gamble.

The Hurricanes are now 3-2 on the season, and will host nationally ranked Michigan State in their next game.
