News and notes on some of the top prospects around the Mid-Atlantic.
Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes defensive tackle Demetri McGill decommitted from Maryland a few days ago. Now, the 6-foot-2, 295-pound McGill will take official visits to East Carolina (offer) this weekend, North Carolina on Jan. 25, and Temple (offer) on Feb. 1. He also has an offer from Old Dominion and is still considering the Monarchs.
Hampton (Va.) Phoebus defensive end and Old Dominion commit Mark Wilson was offered by Temple today and will take an official there on Jan. 25. But first, he will take an official to Cincinnati this weekend. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Wilson has already taken visits to North Carolina State and Northern Illinois.
Florida State offered a pair of Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes' teammates on Wednesday. 2014 6-foot-2, 295-pound defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi and 2015 6-foot-3, 220-pound running back/wide receiver Jaason Lewis picked up offers from the Seminoles. Both are big-time prospects.
It has been a busy two days for 2014 Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic running back Elijah Hood. Yesterday, Ohio State assistant coach Everett Withers stopped by his school to see him. The Buckeyes offered the 6-foot-1, 215-pound Hood back in early December. Then today, Michigan head coach Brady Hoke and assistant Jerry Montgomery stopped by and offered. Shortly after, Stanford running backs coach Mike Sanford arrived and offered Hood as well. The four-star running back is well into double-digit offers.
2014 Havelock (N.C.) four-star running back Derrell Scott picked up scholarship offer No. 11 yesterday from Georgia Tech. The nation's 11th-ranked junior running back said he is interested in the Yellow Jackets. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Scott did confirm that South Carolina is still his leader, followed by Florida State and Ohio State.
