5-star RB visited UM Wednesday

Five-star running back prospect Alex Collins was on an unofficial visit to Miami on Wednesday night, and came away impressed.

Alex Collins was an early commitment to the University of Miami. After being committed for several months, Collins decided to open things up toward the end of 2012. He took recruiting visits to Wisconsin, Florida State, and Florida.

He saved the two schools he's most interested in right now -- Miami and Arkansas -- for last. He saw Miami this past weekend and is set to see Arkansas this coming weekend.

He spent Wednesday night on Miami's campus for an unofficial visit to see the basketball team throttle No. 1-ranked Duke. Collins came away impressed with the atmosphere.

"That was an amazing experience," Collins said of the visit. "Best part (was) the chant, and the court rush. I saw die hard fans. I had a great time at the game. [It was a] great experience."

Collins, 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds, received an in-home visit from two Arkansas coaches earlier in the day.

The talented running back prospect spent some time Wednesday with fellow five-star Matthew Thomas, an elite linebacker prospect who is currently on an official visit to Miami.

Collins has not set an announcement date yet, but will likely know soon after his visit to Arkansas this weekend.
