Canes land Virginia standout

The University of Miami landed a new commitment today when this Virginia standout pledged to the Canes.

As I first reported last week, Rhyeem Lockley took an official visit to Miami this weekend. The end result was a good one.

Lockley confirmed through a message that he made a commitment to the Hurricanes today.

At 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, the Middlesex High standout played all over the field as a senior in 2012. He ran for over 1,000 yards and scored 15 touchdowns on the ground as a running back. He added 598 yards and nine touchdowns through the air as a pass-catcher. And on defense, he collected 49 tackles and one interception.

Lockley, who also has scored over 1,500 career points in basketball, committed to the Hurricanes over offers from schools like Virginia Tech, Virginia, and West Virginia.
