Lockley, 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, played a number of different positions at Middlesex High in Virginia this past season. He's a terrific athlete who has also scored over 1,500 points during his prep basketball career. Lockley was lightly recruited for most of the year but pledged to the Hurricanes today. He says he's being recruited as a WR/TE, which means he'll likely be a pass-catching tight end down the road for the Canes.
Edwards, 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds, was a one-time Syracuse commitment. He backed off that decision and took visits to Florida State and Miami. Those are his two finalists. The Canes first offered him back in May, at a time when Alex Collins was firmly committed to Miami. That indicates the Canes would like to add two more running backs to this class. Edwards is expected to announce very soon, but an exact time has not yet been determined.
* Alex Collins is set to announce between Miami and Arkansas tomorrow night on an Atlanta radio station. The five-star from South Plantation was committed to Miami for several months but has a very good relationship with the coaches now on the staff at Arkansas. Interestingly, the Hogs just took a commitment from a running back in Texas, who had previously been pledged to Houston. He was just offered this weekend. That may or may not be a sign on what their coaches believe Collins will do but it's worth noting -- especially since the offer was just made (and accepted) this weekend.
* 4-star OL Denver Kirkland has been the most talked about recruit by Miami fans over the last few days. The Under Armour All-American had been favoring Miami for a long time before his coach says his offer was pulled on Thursday night. Kirkland and his family met with Miami coaches yesterday and today one of the assistant coaches at Booker T (former UM track star Tim Harris, the son of the head coach) told Scout's Jamie Newberg that the offer is back on the table from the Canes. The coach says Kirkland will now choose between Miami, Florida State, and Arkansas this Wednesday. He and 5-star LB Matthew Thomas are set to announce live on ESPNU at 9:15 am on Wednesday.
* Four-star defensive tackle Jaynard Bostwick took an official visit to Florida with his father over the weekend. The St. Lucie West Centennial standout visited Miami previously and has seemingly cut his list down to Florida and Miami. In my experience in this business, anytime a kid takes a visit on the last recruiting weekend of the year it seems he's not solid with any one school. That's probably the case here with Miami, which means the Gators probably had a great chance to close him this weekend. He hasn't set a time to announce yet but the Gators seem to have the edge over the last few days.
* There's been a lot of recent talk about when three-star linebacker Jermaine Grace would announce his decision. The Miramar standout says it'll happen on Wednesday at 2 pm on ESPNU -- like friend/former teammate Tracy Howard did last year. Grace will choose between Miami (likely) and Louisville.
