School: Woodland Hills (Ca) Pierce JC
Recruiting: Sandland was the most heavily recruited Junior College tight end prospect in America this year. He also took visits to Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Arizona State before signing with Miami. He's already enrolled in school.
Scouting Report: He has the height, the athleticism, and production numbers that everyone covets. Those are just some of the reasons why he was recruited as the nation's top Junior College tight end prospect.
2012 season: He finished his sophomore season with 24 catches for 267 yards and three touchdowns for a team that went 9-2 on the year.
Mike's Take: The Hurricanes desperately need tight ends. Clive Walford is really the only legit pass-catching option on the current roster. That's why Miami dipped into the Juco ranks. Early on, Sandland was considered a longshot. Brennan Carroll did a tremendous job of getting Sandland on board. It's a huge addition to the class, and he's a player who will be expected to make a big impact from day one.
